Environment

From the most efficient venues to sustainable events, we work to reduce our environmental impact and raise awareness in the communities in which we operate.

Environmental protection: a global challenge, a vital commitment

In terms of sustainability, we integrate Group policies into our daily activities to generate positive effects at a global and local level with a view to protecting the environment for future generations. To confirm this responsibility, we too have adopted an Environmental Management System in compliance with the standard UNI ISO 14001:2015.

Our future strategies and goals

We implement a focused environmental sustainability strategy that aims to achieve carbon neutrality by promoting yearly investments for the energy efficiency of our plants. This involves prioritising technologies that optimise yields and reduce consumption , such as sourcing energy of guaranteed origin, extending the use of LED lighting, and adopting more sustainable vehicle fleets and mobility measures.

As of FY 2026

We will continue the gradual replacement of the current fleet of internal combustion vehicles.

From the general strategy to the detailed approach

Our environmental sustainability strategy is detailed and tangible so as to gradually reduce emissions. As part of our sustainability journey, we have also undertaken to monitor and manage the environmental impact of corporate events.

Var Group Sustainability 2026
Measuring ourselves to improve
Environment
On the occasion of the  Var Group 2024 Convention, we designed a project to calculate and offset the carbon footprint of the event.

With the support of  Climate Standard, we measured emissions through a survey of participants using international standards such as ISO 14067. Once the total emissions of the event were calculated, a   neutralisation strategy was defined: to compensate for the environmental impact of the Convention. For this we purchased   high-quality carbon credits  equivalent to the emissions produced.

Notably, by way of offsetting, we opted to support the  'Water is Life' nature and social project of the non-profit organisation Aid4Mada Onlus.

Continual improvement
Environment
For the 2024 Convention, we will again pursue the goal of measuring our environmental footprint. To this end, we will adopt internal solutions for calculating our carbon footprint, following the international standard ISO 14067, with the support of a third-party certifying body and consultants specialised in the field.

We have developed a system, integrating two proprietary solutions, that collects detailed data on participants’ consumption and movements: QualiWare, a calculator that will aggregate consumption data and data from questionnaires issued to participants; and Vedienergia, a system for monitoring and collecting data relating to the energy consumption of a location, applied to the venue of the 2024 Convention - the Palacongressi of Rimini - measuring historical data and consumption during the event.
