Tognetti Auto SA

ABOUT

Tognetti Auto SA was founded in 1935 when its founder, Ernesto Tognetti, took over the Ambrosoli garage located in Piazza Grande. From 1944 onwards, the garage grew year after year, expanding the brands it represented, constructing new buildings and integrating other companies active in the sector.
The family-run business is now in its third generation and stands as one of the largest dealerships in Ticino, celebrating 75 years as a Volkswagen importer in 2023. In 2024, a new facility dedicated to the sale of used vehicles and the storage of new vehicles in stock will be inaugurated.
Today, the company employs more than 100 people, including 14 apprentices, who work every day to ensure high-quality service for customers and respect for the environment.

Challenge

Informed by its long-standing IT partner that all managed IT services would be discontinued as of 2023, Tognetti Auto faced a major challenge: how to manage its entire IT ecosystem without an internal IT department and without external expert support.

In a context of rapid technological evolution and growing business needs, the absence of a professional and reliable IT solution could have seriously compromised operational continuity and market competitiveness.

Aware of the urgency, Tognetti Auto launched a careful search for a new IT service provider, focusing on local experts capable of fully understanding its specific needs and offering a comprehensive cloud-based managed services portfolio, including:

Solution

Immediately after the engagement, 4IT Solutions ensured that the new servers, network and client environments were fully operational within just a few days. Throughout the transition, all data remained available and users were supported at every stage.

Through the implementation of the Managed Workplace service and the adoption of Microsoft 365, 4IT Solutions enabled Tognetti Auto to benefit from centralised remote management while creating a modern, efficient and highly productive working environment.

To further support modern work practices, 4IT Solutions proposed the migration from the legacy file server to SharePoint, offering a secure, structured and collaborative digital workspace accessible anytime and from anywhere.

This objective was achieved through the Managed Data Protection service, leveraging leading market technologies to protect data within Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.

Historically, Tognetti Auto relied on an on-premise infrastructure that required continuous maintenance and updates, limiting flexibility, scalability and the adoption of new technologies. To support the transition to a modern work environment and ensure data residency in Switzerland, 4IT Solutions migrated all services to Microsoft Azure through the Managed Infrastructure service.

  • The transition from the previous provider was completed ensuring minimal downtime

  • 66 devices (40 laptops, 26 desktops) and 72 users are currently centrally managed

  • Backups are performed for a total of nearly 2 TB of data

  • 20 network devices are successfully managed
